 The Center for New Media offers career-based, industry-standard instruction with options in nine distinct program areas. We offer classes geared toward both the traditional college student and the professional graphic designer or web developer. We offer a creative and open learning environment where you can design or develop your future by through individual courses, course combinations, certificate or degree programs. Kalamazoo Valley Community College’s Center for New Media fully became a center when it opened in its new building in August 2004. Part of the downtown Arcadia Commons campus, the Center for New Media Building includes:
- 12 classrooms (three PC, three Mac, two drawing and fine art classrooms, and four lecture)
- full wireless access to the network throughout the Arcadia campus
- a dedicated computer lab with both Macs and PCs, large scale color laser printing, large scale scanners, specialty printers, and digital cameras and videocameras
- several practice and production labs including a digital photography lab and a print production lab
- two galleries to showcase student artwork including the Arcus Gallery which features six large scale plasma screens facing the Kalamazoo Mall to showcase students’ artwork 24/7 to the Kalamazoo community
- offices for the six full-time and nineteen part-time faculty of CNM and conference rooms.
- a project space called "Think/Space," which serves as an advanced project-based incubator designed to nurture creativity and team-based learning in the approach to projects and the management of those projects.
