Campers are encouraged, but are not required to bring their own basketballs.
If you are bringing your own ball, it should be clearly marked with the camper’s first and last name.

Campers should plan to bring their own lunch or to eat in the school cafeteria.

ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE TIME

Campers should check in on the first day between 8:00--9:00 AM.  Camp will begin at 9:00 AM and end at 4:00 PM each day.

PLAYING FACILITIES

Camp will be conducted in the main gym and, as needed, in the auxiliary gym located adjacent to it.

AIMS OF THE CAMPS

The primary purpose of our camps is to develop individual basketball skills while emphasizing the importance of teamwork, self-discipline, and sportsmanship. We want to motivate each camper not only to set high goals, but also to search out realistic ways to approach the attainment of those goals. We want our campers to grow to appreciate the value of fundamental correctness, as well as the value of practice itself. Our overall aim is to provide the kind of experiences that will enable all of us to feel the joy that comes from sharing with and relating to others in a positive way. We want each camper to discover that real winning involves a proper attitude every bit as much as it does effort and ability.

MEDICALS

Each applicant is encouraged to have had a physical check-up within the last year. A medical statement from a physician will not be required.  Parents will be required to sign a waiver indicating applicant's capability to fully participate in camp activities.

INSURANCE

With the exception of the NJCAA Catastrophic Insurance Plan, all campers will be covered by the same policy that covers KVCC intercollegiate athletes. This policy is a no-deductible, secondary accident insurance policy that will pay only the amount left unpaid by each camper’s personal or family insurance. Further details on this coverage are available upon request.

LOCKER ROOM, LOCKS, AND TOWELS

Lockers will be furnished, if requested. CAMPERS SHOULD BRING THEIR OWN TOWELS AND LOCKS FOR LOCKER! All personal locks must be removed nightly. Money and valuables should not be left unlocked in the locker room.

COACHING STAFF

Dick Shilts, KVCC’s Head Men's Basketball Coach will direct the camp. Coach Shilts' staff will feature several local high school coaches as well as hand picked players from KVCC program.  Highly qualified personnel will be added to the staff as enrollment dictates.
