Athletic News Release
June 22, 2004
The 2005 recipients of the prestigious Dale B. Lake
Presidential Award have been named. This award is a yearly endeavor that
honors KVCC’s founding President, Dale B. Lake, by giving annual recognition
to outstanding student-athletes at KVCC. Exceptional academic achievement,
outstanding athletic contribution, and evidence of uncommon leadership and
character are among the criteria for this award.

This year the lady recipient is Becca Wahmhoff.
Becca graduated from Gobles
High School. Throughout her high school and college career, she has
excelled in both basketball and softball. Becca is a member of the KVCC
Honors College. She has volunteered regularly at the Kalamazoo community
soup kitchen administered by Ministry with Community. Her 3.90 GPA with 54
hours passed at KVCC, has earned her Distinguished Academic All American
status in the NJCAA.
Coach Ron Welch comments that he
“…could always count on her to do the right thing for the good of the team.
She is the epitome of what a team player should be and is a shining example
of what athletics at the community college level is really about.”
Wahmhoff has been nominated for the
prestigious Betty Jo Graber Female Student Athlete of the Year Award, an
award given annually to one female community college student in America.
Becca was a Liberal Arts major at KVCC, and transferred to Michigan State
University in the fall of 2005.
