Background Information
I received my Bachelor's degree in Social Science from Grand
Rapids Baptist College (Cornerstone College) and my Master's
degree in Counseling from Western Michigan University. I have
worked at KVCC as a counselor since 1980.
Special Interest
Counselors at KVCC function as generalists, advising students in
all programs/majors. Because of this general focus, I do not
advise only students in one specific area. As a KVCC counselor I
am trained to advise in all programs areas, as well as advise
undecided students. I also am trained to counsel students through
college adjustment concerns and other personal concerns that may
hinder a student in the pursuit of his/her educational goals. I
enjoy helping students get started in college especially those who
may be fearful or hesitant to take the first steps to enroll.
In addition to my advising/counseling duties, I also serve as the
transfer liaison for KVCC to in-state four-year colleges and
universities. I am the contact person for transfer information
coming from the four-year school to KVCC. It is my responsibility
to keep transfer programs up-to-date and transfer equivalency
information accurate.
