1. When are applications due?

We begin to accept applications each September 1st for the following fall. For more information or an application packet please contact Pat DeHaan at (269) 488-4144 or e-mail her at pdehaan@kvcc.edu.

2. When will students be notified of admittance?

Usually in the fall for the following fall semester—i.e. November 2006 for fall 2007Top
3. Do all of the prerequisites have to be completed by the time that the application is submitted?

4. Do students need to apply to KVCC prior to or at the time they are applying to the DH program?

Yes. The date of application to KVCC and the date of receipt for the transcripts could affect acceptance into the program.Top
5. Do you keep applications on file from previous years?

No. Applicants are required to complete a new application each time he or she applies.Top
6. Is there a waiting list?

There is no waiting list, if you are not accepted when you initially apply to the program you must complete the same process the next year. It may take up to 2 years after prerequisites are finished to be accepted into the program.Top
7. Is it OK if I don’t type the application?

Yes—as long as it is legible.Top
8. How will a student know if course work transfers whether it is completed in Michigan or elsewhere?

Contact the counseling office and send an official transcript for evaluation by the transcript auditor (after applying to KVCC).Top
9. What are my chances of being accepted into the KVCC DHY (Dental Hygiene) program?

Acceptance will depend on when prerequisites are completed and when a complete application is received.Top
10. How many students are accepted into the program?

24 students are admitted and start the dental hygiene program each fall.Top
11. Is the KVCC DHY program a certificate, or associate degree program?

KVCC program is an Associates of Applied Science.Top
12. How important are grades for acceptance to the DHY program?

A minimum grade of 2.0 is required in each of the prerequisite classes.Top
13. What other factors are important in the selection process?

Timing—when prerequisites are finished, when prerequisites are started, when application to KVCC is made, when application to the DHY program is made.Top
