There
are four drafting program options available. There is a one-year
option and three two-year options.
The Drafting/CAD Drafter Certificate is a one year
drafting program option. It is designed to prepare the student for
an entry level drafting career. The student will be prepared to work
at the entry levels in general drafting areas.
The Drafting/CAD Drafter program option leads to a
two-year Associates Degree. The student is prepared to work in a
variety of drafting areas including architectural and mechanical.
The student will be trained in both AutoCad and CadKey
computer-aided drafting software.
The Drafting/CAD Design program option leads to a two-year
Associates Degree. This program has a higher level of math and
science than the drafter option. Graduates of this option will have
the skills to design products and tooling in the mechanical and
plastics areas.
The Drafting/CAD-CAM Design program option is structured
to provide understanding of industrial products from design through
manufacturing. Emphasis will be on using computer file transfer
using CAD, CAM and CNC in the design process.

CAD
at Kalamazoo Valley Community College
CAD
is an acronym for Computer Aided Drafting or Computer Aided
Design. Today’s
systems are composed of hardware and various software to aid
in the development of a product or construction project. The Drafting and Design program at KVCC gives the student a
strong foundation in drafting and design fundamentals to
efficiently use a CAD system in several career areas
available in southwestern Michigan.
Presently the CAD department makes use of the latest
versions of CadKEY, AutoCAD and Pro-E software. |
