$$$ COMPETITIVE WAGES $$$ ... The wages in the drafting and design area are good and are based on a person's education and experience. A beginner in the field (a detailer) can expect to start in an entry level position at about $25,000 per year. A graduate with an associates degree (CAD designer) with co-op experience can expect to start at about $35,000 per year. Future salary increases are dependent upon the individual's growth and development. It is not uncommon for out students to exceed $50,000 per year with a few years of experience. Some individuals may advance to management positions and/or may choose to continue their education.
