Financial Aid Information for Students Pursuing the

Online RN from LPN/LVN Program

2007/2008

If you designate KVCC as your degree granting college, (The Home School) you need to complete the following steps if you are interested in applying for financial aid.

1. Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).  Applications are available in the Financial Aid Office or you can apply online at www.fafsa.ed.gov.
2. Indicate on the FAFSA, you want your results sent to KVCC  (school code:  006949).
3. Complete the KVCC "Online RN from LPN Program" Intent Form.  This form is available in the Financial Aid Office or on our web site at www.kvcc.edu.  (Go to Getting Started, Financial Aid Opportunities, Download Forms, then KVCC "Online RN from LPN Program" Intent Form).  Submit this form to the Financial Aid Office.  This form needs to be completed each semester you wish to apply for financial aid.
4. At the time you submit your Intent Form, you must have already registered for your online courses.
5. Once the Financial Aid Office receives your FAFSA results and the Intent Form, the Financial Aid Office will contact the college(s) (The Consortium School) where your course(s) is being taught (Kirtland Community College and/or Monroe County Community College).  That college (Consortium School) will certify the classes you are enrolled in, and will agree not to pay financial aid for you at that college.  Note:  You cannot receive financial aid from more than one college for the same enrollment period.
6. Once the KVCC Financial Aid Office receives certification of your enrollment at the Consortium college(s), we will then determine your financial aid eligibility based on the number of credit hours you are enrolled in at KVCC (if any) and your online courses for the semester you submitted on your Intent Form and confirmed through the Consortium Agreement.
7. Once your financial aid eligibility has been determined you will be notified by mail.
8. If you are interested in applying for a student loan, you must complete our Student Loan Application Packet.  This is available in the Financial Aid Office or on our web site at www.kvcc.edu.  (Go to Getting Started, Financial Aid Opportunities, then Student Loans.)
9. Please note:  if you are applying for any scholarships, you must indicate on the scholarship application that you are pursuing the online nursing program.
10. Financial aid funds will be distributed to online nursing students in the same manner as all other students attending KVCC.  If you need to pay for your tuition at the Consortium School prior to when your funds are available from KVCC, you will need to make arrangements with the Consortium School.  Initial balance checks are normally available to students on Wednesday of the third week of the semester start date. Refer to balance check dates listed in the appropriate semester class schedule.
