STEPS IN APPLYING
Applying for a Federal Stafford Loan
Applying for Federal Stafford Loan is easy.
1.
File a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
2.
On the FAFSA answer yes to question 31 to indicate that you are
interested in being considered for a student loan. KVCC will determine your loan
eligibility based on the results of your FAFSA.
3.
To finalize your request for a Stafford Loan, you must access your KVCC
VIP account to accept, reduce, or decline your student loan offer. You will
also need to complete the Pre-Loan Certification form.
4.
New or first-time loan borrowers at KVCC must complete
Entrance Loan
Counseling.
5.
Once the loan is accepted and Entrance Loan Counseling is completed we
will certify your loan and notify your lender of your eligibility.
6. If you are a
first time borrower at KVCC, you must complete a Master Promissory Note (MPN).
The MPN can be completed online or in paper format. Paper MPNs are available in
the Financial Aid Office. Your loan servicer will notify you if a MPN is
required.
To apply for a loan if
you did not indicate on the FAFSA you wanted a loan.
- Complete the KVCC Financial Aid Intent/Adjustment form
available on our website or in the Financial Aid Office. (allow up to 2
weeks to be processed)
