File a Free Application for Federal Student
Aid (FAFSA).
The FAFSA can be completed online at
www.fafsa.ed.gov at no cost to the applicant.
Complete the following forms: Pre-Loan
Certification Form and
Loan Request Form.
These forms are available in the Financial Aid Office or they can be
downloaded at the above links. Return both forms to the Financial Aid Office.
The Financial Aid Office determines loan
eligibility from the information requested in Steps 1 and 2 above.
Your financial aid award will be updated to reflect your loan eligibility.
You can view your financial aid award as part of your student account on the
Valley Information Portal
(VIP). You should monitor your student account periodically for any
changes to your financial aid award.
Before your loan is certified you must
complete Entrance
Loan Counseling. This can be done through any source of Internet access.
Internet access is available in the Financial Aid Office. KVCC will
receive confirmation that you have completed this process.
Upon receipt of confirmation that you have completed loan
counseling, we will certify your loan and notify your lender of your
eligibility status.
If you are a first time borrower at KVCC, you must
complete a Master Promissory Note (MPN). The MPN can be completed
online or in paper format. Paper MPNs are available in the Financial
Aid Office. Your loan servicer will notify you if a MPN is required.
Upon completion of the above steps, your
lender will transfer your loan funds to KVCC. Loan funds are applied
directly to your student account. You will be notified by email when
your
funds are received by the college. Your loan funds are applied in two installments, usually at the
start of each semester.
