Honors Program Application Procedure
Step 1: Submit a standard KVCC admissions application form to the Admissions,
Registration and Records Office,
room 4550, Texas Township Campus.
Step 2: Present evidence of ability in each of the following two areas:
Composition Ability (Choose one)
A score of 90 or higher on the COMPASS Writing Placement test. (Please contact the Student Service Center at (269) 488-4100 to make arrangements if you choose this method of demonstrating composition ability.
This test is free and it is offered on our campus.)
or
A score of 4 or higher on the Advanced Placement Language and Composition
examination. (This test is taken in high school upon completion of the corresponding AP
class.)
or
A score of 5 or higher on the International Baccalaureate English HL I
examination. (This test is taken in high school upon completion of the corresponding IB
class.)
or
A score of 9 or higher on the ACT Writing Test (essay subscore). (This test
is taken in high school.)
General Academic Ability (Choose one)
A high school GPA of 3.5 or higher in college preparatory subjects.
or
A score of 25 or higher on the ACT examination.
or
A college GPA of 3.5 or higher for 20 or more credits earned in college transfer courses.
(Applicants who have earned more than 30 college credits may be deemed
ineligible because the program takes four semesters to complete.) Step 3: Prepare and forward a
résumé of your accomplishments, along with your official transcripts and/or ACT
scores, and evidence of your composition ability. E-mailed or faxed
documents will not substitute for hard copy. Do not include any
additional information in your application packet such as letters of
recommendation, writing samples, or pictures of yourself. Please mail your application materials to the

Step 4: Finalists will be
required to sit for an interview with the director. Interview questions will be
e-mailed to candidates whose names are put forward. Successful applicants will
be notified by e-mail approximately one week after their interview. The Honors
Program scholarship pays full in-district tuition and fees for up to 70 credit
hours for students who maintain program standards. Scholarship funds are
disbursed at the end of each semester to all students who have met weekly
writing, community service, and grade point average program standards.
