HOW DO I APPLY TO BECOME A TUTOR?

The Necessary Qualities of a Good Tutor:

  1. Course Mastery - Tutors must have achieved a 3.0 in the subjects they are tutoring.
  2. Communication Skills- Well developed communication and listening skills are vital to successful tutoring. Tutors must have a willingness to learn new skills.
  3. Reliability - Tutoring requires reliability and a sense of teamwork. We are looking for tutors with energy and a positive approach to problem solving.

The Learning Center tutors are individuals who care about helping others. They are required to complete a thorough CRLA (College Reading and Learning Association) training program. This is an international tutor training certification, which has set standards and guidelines for a high quality training program.

Our tutors are trained to guide students to become independent learners.  Two of our Learning Center tutors have received the prestigious Michigan Tutor of the Year Award from the Michigan Tutoring Association. You can too!

The Benefits of Tutoring:

  1. Personal satisfaction - You can make a difference in a fellow student's academic success.
  2. Flexible work hours - You can set your work hours to accommodate your schedule.
