Internship Title: PROJECT MANAGEMENT INTERN
Description: Project management interns work with an assigned state to research foreclosure data sites to find relevant information and databases that may be used. Interns determine if data are available in printed and or electronic media. In addition, interns mine for accessible tax and contact data to support and complete forclosure record. You also work with the web programmer to create and plan sites that add value and efficiency for future data gathering. Each manager or team is given a list of fields to fill. Upon successful identification of appropriate foreclosure resources, you begin to build the database of pre-foreclosures in your state. During this process, interns monitor data entries for their designated state in order to ensure a quality record. They seek additional useful resources such as sites that explain state statute and contain additional information pertaining to foreclosure listings in the state. (E.G. plat records, tax sites, parcel search tools, and specific process descriptions. These sites are used by subscribers of the data base to assist in their research process.) Candidates may propose to work as a individuals or in teams of two. Each entity has the task of building the most valuable database in the shortest amount of time. Value is measured in terms of completeness, quality of data, best method for compiling with the available resources and speed of building the database. Each manager creates a written description that can be used as a tutorial for other trainees. Each tutorial is graded on content, grammar and structure and must include text description, examples, rules to guide operators, and examples as needed. A working example is provided by the General Manager. Some state data sources are better attacked with scraping tools used to lift data entries from standardized public websites. Interns who understand how to and desire to develop these tools should identify themselves. Appropriate states are assigned by the General Manager. The team approach is strongly suggested to accomplish this approach. Each team should contain a web programmer and a data manager. Time is of the essence. If a team is not showing any progress as measured against the timeline and list of objectives provided by the General Manager, the internship may be terminated. The most successful project Interns or teams become a candidate to join the company as a manager overseeing the data building effort for a group of states.
