The Kalamazoo Valley Cougar Team is looking for members.
The American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life of Kalamazoo County has kicked off their 2014 event. The Kalamazoo Valley team is looking for at least 60 staff, faculty, administrators and students to join the team. Our goal is to raise at least $3,000.00. We are collecting any returnable bottles or cans for our fundraising drive. Our receptacles are located in the cafeteria, ATC, Commons, by the library and faculty lounge. Look for the purple boxes to donate your returnable cans and bottles.
Relay for Life is the Society’s signature event, dedicated to increasing awareness and raise funds to fight cancer. Teams of family, friends and co-workers camp out for 24 hours, taking turns walking the track. Each team is asked to have a representative on the track at all times, a reminder that cancer never sleeps.
The event includes entertainment and family activities, an inspiring victory lap by survivors and a poignant Luminaria Ceremony at dusk that is a tribute to those who have faced cancer. If you are or know of any survivors, please feel free to send Mary their name and address and she will send them an invitation to the survivor’s dinner.
This year’s Relay For Life of Kalamazoo will take place Saturday, May 31 – Sunday, June 1, 10:00 a.m.-10:00 a.m. at Portage Central High School. Portage Central High School will open a portion of their building for use during the event.
The American Cancer Society is dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem by saving lives, diminishing suffering and preventing cancer through research, education, advocacy and service.
