Students may transfer up to fifteen (15) credits into any School of Communication major, or nine (9) credits into any School of Communication minor, providing: a) the courses are approved as direct equivalents to current WMU courses in the major or minor or; b) the courses are required or allowed as electives in the major or minor. Any course not used toward a School of Communication major or minor may be used as electives to meet the minimum required 122 credits needed for graduation from WMU. To be admitted to a major within the Communication area at WMU a student must have completed a minimum of 30 credits, 12 of which must be earned at WMU. The minimum GPA of 2.5 includes all courses as well as 2.5 in Communication courses. Major options include Organizational Communication, Interpersonal Communication, Communication Studies, Journalism, Public Relations, Telecommunications Mgmt, and Film/Video/Media Studies. Foreign Language requirement - 2 semesters of same language in college, language proficiency test, or 2 years of high school language with a "B" grade or better in the 2nd semester of the 2nd year. No courses with grades less than 2.0 will transfer to WMU. Suggested elective courses are ENG 226, ART 170, COM 201, COM 203, and COM 280.
