1. When are applications due?

We accept applications early each September for the following Fall program. For more information or to receive a Health Careers Application packet please contact the Health Careers Admissions Coordinator at healthcareers@kvcc.edu.Top
2. When will students be notified of their acceptance status?

Students will typically be notified of their acceptance status before Thanksgiving. Top
3. Do all of the prerequisites have to be completed by the time the application is submitted?

Yes.Top
4. Do students need to apply to KVCC before applying to the DHY program?

Yes. The date of application to KVCC and the date of receipt for any applicable transcripts could affect acceptance into the program.Top
5. Do you keep applications on file from previous years?

No. Applicants are required to complete a new application each time he or she applies.Top
6. Is there a waiting list?

We currently do not have a waiting list. If you are not accepted when you initially apply to the program you must complete the same process the next year. It may take up to 2 years after prerequisites are finished to be accepted into the program.Top
7. Is it OK if I don’t type the application?

Yes, as long as it is legible.Top
8. How will a student know what coursework transfers if it is completed in Michigan or elsewhere?

After you have completed a general application to KVCC and received your Valley ID #, send all official transcripts to the Admissions & Records Office for evaluation by the transcript auditor. You can then schedule an appointment with an academic counselor by calling (269) 488-4123.Top
9. What are my chances of being accepted into the KVCC DHY (Dental Hygiene) program?

Acceptance will depend on when prerequisites are completed and when a complete application is received.Top
10. How many students are accepted into the program?

24 students are admitted into each Fall program.Top
11. Is the KVCC DHY program a certificate or associate degree program?

KVCC's DHY program is an Associate of Applied Science degree program.Top
12. How important are grades for acceptance into the DHY program?

A minimum grade of 2.0 is required in each of the prerequisite classes. An overall college grade point average of 2.0 or higher is also required.Top
13. What other factors are important in the selection process?

Timing—when prerequisites are finished, when prerequisites are started, when application to KVCC is made, and when application to the DHY program is made.Top
