Gainful Employment Information
The United States Department of Education has established requirements for providing consumers with information on career preparation programs that result in an award at the Certificate Level. This information offers a perspective on specific occupations, program completions, and costs including student loan debt.
The information presented here is based mainly on Certificate graduates from the 2012/13 year. The reader is encouraged to carefully review the Notes section below to determine how closely their individual situation resembles the basis of the information presented.
1. This information complies with the Gainful Employment disclosure requirements as published in the Federal Register on October 29, 2010 by the United States Department of Education (FR66665 and FR 66832).
2. The information presented is based on a student enrolling on a full-time basis over the course of three consecutive semesters. The student is assumed to require no developmental coursework.
3. Gainful Employment requirements specify reporting of placement rates if required by the “institutional accreditor, program accreditor, or the state.” Currently, neither the State of Michigan nor accreditors require placement information.
4. Due to Gainful Employment regulations and the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), on-time program completion rates and median debt load cannot be reported for programs with fewer than 10 graduates.
