Alfred and Mary Sagar Scholarship
 

Eligible applicants must be a non-U.S. citizen or non-resident.  (Not for students of foreign origin who are on immigrant visas).  Must be enrolled for at least 12 credits or plan to finish a program of study. 

 
Anderson Grant
 

Applicants must be enrolled full time (minimum of 12 credit  hours and must have completed a minimum of 12 credit hours. Student must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and must demonstrate need (preference given to greatest need). Applicant must be in “good standing” (satisfactory academic progress)

 
Anna Whitten Humanitarian Scholarship
 

 

Anna Whitten Humanitarian Scholarship

 

Scholarship History:  Established August 2011 by Nicole Jennings in honor of her great grandmother Anna Whitten, a KVCC Board Trustee, community volunteer and humanitarian.

 

Scholarship Type:      

Ø  Endowed scholarship

Ø  Scholarship to be funded annually until endowment is able to support the award.

Ø  Scholarship to begin in the fall of 2011.

 

Application Process:    

Ø  Complete a KVCC Scholarship Application

Ø   Complete a FAFSA or KVCC Needs Analysis Worksheet

 

Eligibility Criteria:      

Ø  Must be a resident of either Kalamazoo or Port Huron, Michigan

Ø  Any program of study

Ø  Second year student (24 credit hours completed at KVCC)

Ø  Minimum 3.0 GPA

Ø  Candidate will summarize and provide their community and/or volunteer service (self reported)

Ø  Must demonstrate need (preference given to greatest need)

Ø  One time award

 

Number of Scholarships:  Two (2) awards per year  

 

Amount of Scholarship:   Maximum $500/award or available funds.

 

Refunds:                      Any refund resulting from drop or withdrawal activity will revert back to the scholarship fund.

Ø  KVCC Financial Aid Office selects recipients from applicant pool based on above listed criteria

Eligible applicants must have successfully completed the prerequisites for the respiratory care program at KVCC and have a minimum 3.0 GPA.  Documented need required.

Eligibility Criteria:   

Financial need does not need to be documented. U.S. citizen or permanent legal resident Michigan resident with preference given to graduates of a Michigan high school. Second year nursing student enrolled in the KVCC Nursing Program.  Preference given to full time students --" minimum of 12 credit hours Minimum 3.0 GPA Must demonstrate superior clinical skills and consistency in providing compassionate care for patients

·         Maximum of *$2,000/award

·         Award to be divided equally between semesters

 

Refunds:

Selection Process:       The Financial Aid Office to screen from eligible candidates. Financial Aid will provide list of candidates to the nursing department for evaluation by instructors. The Nursing Department to rank order candidates as appropriate and return to Financial Aid. Financial Aid to notify recipient.

 
Char and Tom Brouwer Memorial Scholarship
 

Char & Tom Brouwer Memorial Scholarship: Named in memory of a KVCC employee and her husband. Funded by family and friends in their memory. Criteria: Nursing program, admission to Level II Nursing Program, 2.0 GPA cumulative, Michigan resident, enrollment status - minimum three credit hours, must be involved in community/volunteer activities.

 
Charles and Marjorie Ewald Smith Endowed Scholarship
 

This endowed scholarship was established by Charles W. and Marjorie Ewald Smith in memory of Donald Francis Smith.

 
Coca-Cola Two-Year Scholarship
 

This scholarship is available to students who plan to enroll at KVCC for the up-coming fall semester at least 6 credit hours.  Student must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, have demonstrated academic success with a minimum 2.5 GPA, and have engaged in community service within the previous 12 months either on campus or in the community.  May not be children or grandchildren of coca-Cola employees.  This scholarship is usually promoted during February with an early April deadline date.

 
Connie and Gene Phipps Endowment Fund
 

Eligible applicants must be enrolled in the LPN or RN nursing program in the fall.  Applicants must show compassion and sensitivity, and are truly dedicated to the nursing profession.  Preference will be given to students whose GPA is 3.5 or below.  Documented need required.

 This grant assists students with child-care costs at the KVCC Children’s Campus.  This grant is based on documented need and determined by enrollment status, number of eligible dependents, and academic status.  Program funds will be paid directly to the Children’s Campus.

The KVCC Foundation established this fund to provide financial assistance to students.

 
KVCC Trustee Achievement Award-Athletic
 The KVCC Board of Trustees provides funds for tuition awards to selected athletes participating in intercollegiate athletic events scheduled by the College.
 
KVCC Trustee Assistance Fund
 

The KVCC Board of Trustees established this fund to provide assistance with tuition, fees and books. The Fund provides an alternative source of financial aid to students in one of three categories: 1) not eligible for other sources of financial aid; 2) other financial resources, including financial aid to cover institutional charges, are not available at the time charges are due; and 3) eligibility for other sources of financial aid are not adequate to provide the level of assistance needed to attend KVCC.

Lewis and Elizabeth Macomber Scholarship
 

Eligible applicants must be enrolled for at least 3 credits and have completed a minimum of 24 credits at KVCC, with a minimum 3.0 GPA.  Applicants must be Michigan residents who are in their final year of a transfer program or have fewer than 36 credit hours remaining at KVCC.  Applicants must have definite plans to enroll for at least 6 credit hours at a 4-year academic institution within one year of graduation from KVCC.  Applicants should exhibit determination and tenacity in achieving their goals.  Documented need required.

 This award established in honor of Marion M. Werner, is made available to assist eligible students with the semester cost of books and supplies.

This fund is available to meet the unforeseen needs of students.  Preference is given to students residing within the KVCC service district.

 
Matt Cygan Memorial AITP Scholarship
 

Created in February 2011 by Association of Information Technology Professionals (AITP) in memory of  KVCC AITP Instructor Matt Cygan

Eligibility Criteria:      

Ø  Must be a member of AITP

Ø  Must attend AITP annual conference

Ø  Must have completed 12 credit hours of study

Ø  Must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher with preference given to highest GPA

Ø  Enrollment Status --" Minimum of 6 credit hours at KVCC or a consortium agreement institution.

Ø  Must submit essay (150-300 words) summarizing their experience at the AITPNCC conference.

 

 
Michigan Competitive Scholarship Program
 

Scholarship recipients must demonstrate academic performance on the national ACT examination and documented financial need. Eligible students may receive up to their demonstrated need or tuition charges, whichever is less.

Established April 2008 by Paul and Heather Elwell to help academically gifted students further

their education in the area of economics or finance

Student must be enrolled in a transfer program and plan to transfer to a 4 year college or university and intend to major in finance or economics

Student must be enrolled full time (minimum of 12 credit hour) and demonstrate need (preference given to greatest need)

 Student must have a minimum 3.0 GPA based on 12 credit hours and be a resident of the State of Michigan

 

Maximum award of $250 or available funds.

Student may re-apply with no guarantee. Previous years GPA must be 3.5 or higher.

 
Paul and Mary Jackson Achievement Award
 

The family of Paul D. and Mary G. Jackson have established this award for their parents, grandparents and great-grandparents in recognition of Mr. Jackson's long affiliation with KVCC as a founder and original board member.

 
Paul and Mary Jackson Endowed Scholarship
 This scholarship is named after Paul D. Jackson who is one of the founders of KVCC and served as treasurer on the original Board of Directors at the College. His two children gifted the scholarship funds donated by family and friends as a 50th year wedding gift to their parents.
 
Phillip S. Copeland Memorial Scholarship
 

This scholarship was established in memory of Philip S. Copeland by his grandmother, Betty Ruttledge, a long-time employee who retired from KVCC.

 
Production Technician Academy Scholarship
 

Established June 2012 in support of the Production Technician Academy. Financially funded by

Manufacturers and businesses in surrounding communities.

Recognition stipend established in May 2012 in memory of KVM employee, Rachal J. Badra

by family and friends.

 

a.) Open to all college students holding at least a High School diploma or equivalent

 b.) Preferred academic interest in museum studies, history, science, education, graphic and

computer arts, but all disciplines considered based on project needs and long-term goals of the

Museum.

c.) Must be self-motivated independent worker able to conduct research and write on related

d.) Most internships are structured around one major project with the expectation that the

project shall be completed at the conclusion of the internship

Eligible applicants must be Galesburg-Augusta High School graduates, enrolled at least half-time for the fall semester.  Applicants must have completed a minimum of 12 credit hours at KVCC with a minimum 3.2 GPA.  Preference will be given to students currently employed a minimum of 15 hours a week.  Documented need required.

Scot A. Beyerstedt Memorial Scholarship: Created by Mattawan Police Dept. to honor fallen KVCC Police Academy graduate Scot Beyerstedt. Criteria: Must be accepted in the Police Academy. Pre-service academy status required, and must achieve an outstanding rating from the Academy pre-admissions oral interview. Must be a permanent resident of Kalamazoo County or Van Buren County. A minimum B band score is required on the MOLES pre-employment test.

 This endowed scholarship is funded by Mr. Spasa Voynovich. Applicant must submit an essay on "The Development of Society" to be judged by a Scholarship Committee.
 
Stanley and Bertha Hogarth Annual Nursing Scholarship
 

This scholarship is funded through a gift from the Bertha Hogarth Estate.  The Nursing Department selects the recipient for this annual scholarship based on the following criteria:  student must have completed the first year of the KVCC Nursing Program, be enrolled in the second year of the KVCC Nursing Program, have  a high GPA and be in good standing.  Preference will be given to the candidate that demonstrates excellence in pursuit of a nursing degree.

 
Stoner/Schmiege Wind Turbine Technology Academy Scholarship
 

Scholarship History:    Established August 2011 by Janet Stoner and Rick Schmiege in support of the Wind Turbine Technology Academy.

Scholarship Type:    Annually funded scholarship

The Burdick-Thorne Foundation Scholarship: A scholarship to benefit students demonstrating financial need. Criteria: Must demonstrate need, minimum 2.0 GPA for re-application, enrollment status -" minimum of six credit hours. Resident of Michigan.

 
Thomas Oberlink Memorial Scholarship
 

Eligible applicants must be in-district students pursuing a Liberal Arts Degree and have a minimum 3.0 GPA.  Applicants must have completed at least 12 credit hours at KVCC, and be currently enrolled full-time.  Documented need required.

Scholarship History:  Established May 2013 in memory of Tracy Bley and support of a student with the desire to be a Paramedic with the skills to make a difference in an emergency and who is working to earn an EMS Associate degree at KVCC. To begin in the fall semester, 2013

  

Application Process:    

Ø  Complete a KVCC Scholarship Application

 

Eligibility Criteria:      

Ø  Must be enrolled in the EMS Health Sciences program

Ø  Must be enrolled full time

Ø  Must have completed a minimum of 12 credit hours at KVCC

Ø  Minimum 3.0 GPA

Ø  Essay of 100 words or less addressing your prior experience as a healthcare provider and how you want to make a difference in emergency settings as a healthcare provider

Ø  Preference given to those with prior experience as a healthcare provider

 

Number of Scholarships:  Two (2) awards per year, one award in fall and one award in winter                                                                  

Amount of Scholarship:   $300 per award                                              .

  

 

 
Van Buren FOP Scholarship
 

 Must be a Van Buren Co. resident, accepted into the Police Academy

Must achieve an outstanding rating from the Academy pre-admissions Oral                

Minimum B band score required on the MCOLES pre-employment              

Must demonstrate financial need (preference given to greatest need)

 
Weber Specialties Company Scholarship
 

Eligible applicants must be in a Welding or Machine Tool program and have a minimum 2.0 GPA.  Applicants must also indicate if they have a parent employed at Weber Sepcialties.

 

 
Willett Memorial Endowed Scholarship
 

Endowed scholarship that will provide a $1,000 award annually.     

Ø  Minimum 3.0 GPA

Ø  Must be enrolled at least half-time status

Ø  Must demonstrate need (preference given to need)

Ø  Must be in or out of district student, not out-of-state student

Ø  Preference given to visually impaired student

Ø  Must be in “good standing”
