Google Indoor Maps Comes to Kalamazoo Valley

Finding your way around campus has just been simplified. The Google Indoor Maps app for Android, which details classroom numbers, now works at all three Kalamazoo Valley campus locations. Currently, Google Maps are available for the iPhone and the interior mapping app will be coming soon.

To make the search for classrooms even simpler, QR codes will be added to interior maps found throughout the buildings.

Terry Hutchins, Kalamazoo Valley’s Vice President for Information Technology, said Google representatives visited the campuses last spring to begin the mapping process. They integrated the college’s existing maps with Global Positioning System technology.

Hutchins said he thinks students will appreciate the new convenience. “For someone who’s used to using apps on a phone, it makes perfect sense,” he said.
