First Annual Alumni + Art Show will be held in March
Throughout the month of March, an alumni art show will be exhibited in Kalamazoo Valley Community College’s Center for New Media. Participation in the juried show is open to alumni of Kalamazoo Valley Community College. Submissions in any medium are welcome.
"This has been an exciting year for the KVCC development office and with the launching of our new Alumni+ program we are reconnecting with many of our former students," said Steve Doherty, Director of Development for Kalamazoo Valley. "Events like the Alumni+ Art Show that will take place in March is one example of reaching out, providing events and services to our KVCC community." Kalamazoo Valley’s Alumni+ was launched in April 2010 as a way for graduates, former students, and supporters of Kalamazoo Valley to stay connected to the college and each other.
Submissions must be sent to Brian Carey in the Center for New Media on the Arcadia Commons Campus in downtown Kalamazoo by 5 p.m. on Friday, February 17, 2012. Specifications and submission forms are available at www.facebook.com/KalamazooValleyCenterforNewMedia. Digital artwork must meet specifications and traditional artwork must be exhibit ready. Each entry must be accompanied by a submission form.
Winners will be notified by March 1 and artwork will be exhibited in the Center for New Media’s South Gallery from March 2-31. The exhibit’s opening will coincide with the city of Kalamazoo’s March 2 Art Hop.
The show is sponsored by Kalamazoo Valley’s Center for New Media and the college’s new Alumni+ program. Prizes to be awarded include $500 for Best of Show; $300 for the People’s Choice Award; a $300 Dean’s Award; and a $300 Producer’s Award. The judges’ decisions are final and they retain the right to withhold prizes based on the quality of the entries submitted.
