Lady Cougars Win Western Conference Championship
The Lady Cougars basketball team, coached by Ron Welch and assistant Maureen Brown, has won the Michigan Community College Athletic Association’s Western Conference Championship for the third year in a row with a 14-2 conference mark. They are currently ranked fourteenth nationally.Â
Because of this accomplishment they will play in the State Championship game against the Eastern Conference Champions, St. Clair County Community College at 3 p.m. on March 2, 2013 in Port Huron.Â

By virtue of their Conference Championship, the Lady Cougars also received the top seed and automatic bye into the District "G" Final Four to be held next week at Delta College in the Saginaw area. The Cougars will play on Thursday, March 7 at 7:30 p.m. against an opponent yet to be determined.
The winner of the Thursday night game will play on Saturday, March 9 at 1:00 p.m. for the right to represent region XII, District "G" at the National tournament in Peoria, IL the week of March 18 - 23.

The Cougars finished the regular season with a 23-3 mark and a home winning streak that is currently at 37 games. They have not lost a home contest dating back to late January 2010.
