The winners of the Third Annual Kalamazoo Valley Community College Alumni+ Art Show have been announced. Best of Show, a $500 prize went to Janet Lucking for “Sidelong Glance.” The Director’s Award and People’s Choice Award went to Brandi Read for “Victory Revisited.” Linda Manguiat-Herzog’s “Fisherman’s Daughter,” and Corey Verdon’s “Sharpener,” Jack DeVries’ “Peacock Tail” won Honorable Mention.

Tom Hamann, Director of the Center for New Media at Kalamazoo Valley Community College said about 300 people visited the Center for New Media during the April 4 Art Hop when the Alumni+ Art Show winners were announced. “We had a great turnout during Art Hop and the show is still up,” Hamann said. “It really shows off the talented artists who are former students in various disciplines of Kalamazoo Valley Community College.”

The show was judged by: Bill Rousos, National Account Manager at Superior Colour Graphics and Art and New Media advisory board member; Stephanie Carrier, Community Investment Assistant with the Kalamazoo Community Foundation; and Megan Burtzloff, Interior Designer, Kingscott Architecture and Engineering. A total of 55 entries created by 24 alumni artists were included in the show.

The art show is sponsored by the college's Alumni+ program, which was launched in April 2010 as a way for graduates, former students, and supporters of Kalamazoo Valley to stay connected to the college and each other.
