Kalamazoo Valley Electronics Disposal and Recycling
Kalamazoo Valley is holding offering electronics disposal and recycling services on Oct. 4 and 5 in the northwest parking lot at the Texas Township Campus. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, October 4 and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5.
Kalamazoo Valley is sponsoring this event to help raise awareness and encourage proper recycling practices.
Accepted items include computer towers, laptops, PC and desktop computers, video games, DVD players, servers, cell phones, telephones, CD players, scanners, printers, fax machines, power cords and cables, keyboards, mice, MP3 players, flat panel televisions and monitors, appliances, batteries, scrap metals, any item with an electrical cord, tools, plus refrigerators, freezers, and air conditioning units that contain freon.
There is a $5 fee to dispose of monitors and a $10 fee for television disposal because they contain hazardous waste. All hard drives are wiped clean using a Department of Defense approved wiping procedure or are shredded twice.
