A class of 29 cadets will graduate on Dec. 7 from the Kalamazoo Law Enforcement Training Center’s Police Academy at Kalamazoo Valley Community College. This is the 78th class to graduate from the academy. Larry Belen serves as director of the academy.
The current training academy is 16 weeks long. A total of 594 hours of instruction is now mandated by the Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards. However, the current police academy consists of approximately 735 hours of training. There are over 50 instructors who assist with the academy.

The ceremony takes place at 3 p.m. in Dale B. Lake Auditorium at KVCC’s Texas Township Campus, 6767 W. O Ave., Kalamazoo.
