Sustainable Moves at VALLEY

Sustainable Moves Committee | Active Green Committee

Leaders from the Phi Theta Kappa and PeaceJam chapters on campus joined forces with Recycle Now! and the college's International Student Association to form the KVCC Active Green Committee. Working in conjunction with the college's facilities division, they have placed blue, triple-holed recycling bins throughout the KVCC campuses. This student-driven initiative complements the college's efforts to recycle paper products, cardboard, scrap metals, and batteries.

Why an Active Green Committee? By taking the time to recycle paper, plastic, metal and glass products, the amount of trash, debris and garbage bound for the landfill can be drastically reduced. Recycling 1 ton of plastic saves 7.4 cubic yards of landfill space.

Active Green Committee

The Active Green Committee collected recyclable glass that was used as part of the 95 percent recycled content of the concrete bathroom sink countertops of the new campus addition.
