The Financial Aid Office at Kalamazoo Valley Community College has a variety of additional financial assistance programs for new and returning students. Applications listed on this page do not have a deadline and are available until funds are exhausted.
FAFSA© - Free Application for Federal Student Aid
All eligible students are encourage to complete the FAFSA©. Eligibility for federal grants, including the Pell Grant, require the FAFSA©. Additionally, many scholarship and non-federal grants require the FAFSA© - including several scholarships through the State of Michigan.

If you're 25 or older, and you've been thinking about going back to school to pursue your associate degree or a skills certificate, now might be the time. To be eligible, you must:
- Be at least 25 years old when you apply
- Have lived in Michigan for a year or more
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent
- Have not yet completed a college degree (associate or bachelor's)
Kalamazoo Promise Plus
Kalamazoo Promise Plus are available to all eligible Kalamazoo Promise students attending Kalamazoo Valley. Funds can be used to assist with books, transportation, housing or other non-tuition expenses related to attending Kalamazoo Valley.

KVAAP COA funds are available to all eligible KVAAP students attending Kalamazoo Valley. Funds can be used to assist with books, transportation, housing or other non-tuition expenses related to attending Kalamazoo Valley.
KVAAP COA ApplicationCougar Completion Grant
Cougar Completion Grant is designed to financially assist students with degree completion. Students who submit a FAFSA and who complete 45 credit hours towards an associate degree or 20 credit hours towards a certificate and maintain a cumulative GPA above 2.0 are eligible. Funds may only be used towards tuition and are considered last dollar funds.
Cougar Completion Grant ApplicationCarl D. Perkins Special Populations Financial Assistance
To qualify for Carl D. Perkins financial assistance, students must first be enrolled in a "go-to-work" program - that is, a Career and Technical Education (CTE) program specifically designed to prepare students for direct employment upon completion. Students in transfer or non-CTE programs are not eligible for this funding.
Additionally, eligible students must meet the definition of a special populations student and meet with the Special Populations Coordinator, Denise Lindsley. You can schedule an appointment by emailing her at .
Members of special populations include students who fall into one or more of the following categories:
- Individuals with a disability
- Individuals from economically disadvantaged families
- Non-traditional training and employment participants
- Single parents, including single pregnant women
- Out-of-workforce individuals
- English learners
- Homeless Individuals
- Youth who are in, or have aged out of, the foster care system
- Dependent of Active Military Personnel
- Migrant workers
Financial Assistance
Foundation Assistance are funds available to students through the Kalamazoo Valley Foundation. Funding is available through completing the application and a program of study offered in credit hours.
