KVCC Foundation’s Annual
KVCC’s Annual Fund Drive is one of two major fundraising events of the year for the college with gifts going to help support student scholarships.
“Last years Annual Fund Drive was the best we have on record” commented Stephen Doherty, KVCC Foundation Executive Director, “we had an exceptional year as we exceeded our goal by 36% generating in excess of $46,000”. With this years drive only one month in, early reports have shown a decline in gifts that seem to follow the national trend attributed to tough economic times.
“Much like the Greater Kalamazoo’s United Way struggle to meet its goal this year, we too like others in the non-profit world are experiencing similar difficulties” added Doherty.
With more students each year, increased costs continue to push financial aid applicant counts upward. As in prior years, student requests for Foundation funds exceed available funds resulting in a wait-listing of needy students.
This academic year, the KVCC Foundation will support in excess of 400 student scholarships at the college by contributing more than $346,000. That amount only represents 1% of the total scholarship funding source. Other sources of funding include Federal dollars 80%, the State of
