Free Award-Winning Documentary at Museum for Juneteenth

Enjoy a free showing of the "Summer of Soul" documentary and a community discussion with Kalamazoo-based musicians when the Juneteenth Black Film Fest comes to our Kalamazoo Valley Museum on Friday, June 16, from 5 to 8 p.m.

The film highlights the legendary, but little-known Harlem Cultural Festival of summer 1969, which celebrated African-American music, culture and fashion.

The after-show panel features Cal Street, Romeo Phillips, Ph.D., Faith Quashie and DeJon Allen, with Kevin Lavender Jr. moderating.

The screening is organized by Soul Artistry LLC. For more about the Black Film Fest, visit kalamazoomuseum.org. The Kalamazoo Valley Museum is operated by Kalamazoo Valley Community College and is governed by its Board of Trustees.
