Kalamazoo Valley Celebrates Global Connections with International Education Week Events
Kalamazoo Valley Community College will celebrate International Education Week with a series of events highlighting creativity, culture and community from around the world.
Students, staff and community members are invited to take part in hands-on activities, cultural showcases and international cuisine throughout the week of Nov. 17-20.
The celebration kicks off with International Craft Days, held at multiple campuses. Participants can drop in to create traditional crafts such as Celtic knots and colorful Mexican papel picado, exploring how art connects cultures. Craft sessions will take place Monday, Nov. 17, in AWH 128 from 1-3 p.m.; Wednesday, Nov. 19, in TTC 4370 from noon-2 p.m.; and Thursday, Nov. 20, in the CAH Lobby from noon-2 p.m.
The week continues with Bridging Cultures: Traditions, Arts and Heritage Fair on Tuesday, Nov. 18, from 2-4 p.m. in the TTC Student Commons. The fair will feature students and staff sharing their cultural heritage through traditional dress, music, language, art and history, fostering a deeper understanding of the diverse backgrounds that enrich the Kalamazoo Valley community.
Festivities will conclude with the Global Gathering: International Thanksgiving Dinner on Thursday, Nov. 20, from 5-7 p.m. in TTC 4240. This year's dinner will feature Latin American cuisine and live musical performances by international students, bringing people together to celebrate gratitude, diversity and global friendship.
All events are free and open to the campus community.
