Apply Now for the Kalamazoo Valley Merit Scholarship

High school seniors planning to attend Kalamazoo Valley for the 2026 - 2027 school year are encouraged to apply for the Kalamazoo Valley Merit Scholarship. The $2,000 scholarship can be used toward educational expenses for two consecutive semesters at $1,000 per semester. The deadline to apply is May 1.

To be eligible for consideration, the following is required:

  • Minimum high school GPA of 3.25
  • Apply to the Fall 2026 and Winter 2027 semesters
  • Be a current high school senior (2026 high school graduating class)
  • Receive a high school diploma or GED with a 2026 high school graduating class
  • Must not currently be an Early/Middle College student (EMC students are not eligible)
  • Must have applied and been accepted to Kalamazoo Valley Community College
  • Complete Kalamazoo Valley Orientation
  • Enroll in a minimum of six credits for the Fall 2026 and Winter 2027 semesters
  • Complete a minimum of 12 credits by the conclusion of the first academic year
  • Submit a fully completed virtual scholarship application by May 1, 2026

Those eligible for the Community College Guarantee are also encouraged to apply for the Merit Scholarship. The funds can be used to pay for books, transportation and living expenses. Other forms of aid that can be used in combination with the scholarship include:

  • TIP, Michigan Competitive Scholarship, Kalamazoo Promise and other federal grants and loans, including the Pell Grant.
  • May also be combined with the Kalamazoo Valley Trustee High School Award, Kalamazoo Valley Trustee EFE Award, KVCC Trustee Athletic Award and Kalamazoo Valley Honors Scholarship.

The scholarship is renewable for a second year (Fall 2027 and Winter 2028) for students who complete 12 credits in their first year and are in good academic standing.
