Introducing Kalamazoo Valley’s New Early Childhood Education Pathway
Do you enjoy the energy, creativity, and fun related to working with young children? If so, check out KVCC’s new Early Childhood Education pathway. This pathway prepares students to pursue rewarding careers in the field of early childhood education. Employment opportunities include teaching in preschool, early childhood, and special education classrooms; working as administrators and directors in childcare settings; and providing childcare in both home and center-based environments. Graduates may transfer credits toward a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or elementary education at many colleges and universities. Kalamazoo Valley advisors and counselors are available to assist students with transfer information. Full-time students can complete this degree pathway in as quickly as five semesters. Pathways for full-time students are available in a cohort model with some evening courses required. For part-time students, there are both evening and daytime classes available, and students may progress at their own pace.
The early/elementary education program prepares students who are transferring to a four-year university with teaching programs in early childhood and elementary education leading to a teaching credential. Our program also serves students who would like to enter the workforce after earning their AA, as paraprofessionals, substitute teachers, tutors, or educators in early/elementary education programs inside and outside of traditional public-school settings. Transfer Notes: This program is designed for students who intend to transfer to a four-year college or university. Requirements may be updated prior to the start of the Fall 2023 semester. Students completing this program should consult a counselor or advisor to develop their degree plan and for registration advice.
